Today’s front pages O País and CanalMoz lead with the “drama” in health centres caused by the health workers’ strike. Another O País headline has to do with the demand by the largest opposition party Renamo for state compensation for the victims of the shipwreck in Nampula on 7 April, in which 98 people died. Another CanalMoz headline mentions the electoral law package under review, one of whose laws authorises the president of the Constitutional Council to carry out hiring without a public tender process during the electoral process. Notícias leads with Mozambique’s expectation of receiving more funds from the World Bank, following the country’s participation in the International Association for Africa’s Development summit. Other headlines include the indictment of six education ministry officials for embezzling MZN58.8m of Covid-19 funds.
