Good afternoon. Finance minister Max Tonela has ordered election body STAE to cancel its MZN186m ($2.9m) contract to hire 42 vehicles in Cabo Delgado and Zambezia — and has reportedly directed it to use the money to instead buy the vehicles outright.

There has been something of a moral panic about these contracts, with think tank CIP pointing out that the businesspeople benefiting are linked to the ruling party.
