Islamic State-backed insurgents killed nine soldiers in two coordinated attacks on Mozambican Armed Defence Forces

Islamic State-backed insurgents killed nine soldiers in two coordinated attacks on Mozambican Armed Defence Forces (FADM) bases in the Macomia district of Cabo Delgado province on Saturday, the group has claimed. 

The insurgents struck FADM positions  in the Catupa forest and near the village of Namabo, approximately 25km north of Macomia town, close to the N380 highway.
