At least four killed in overnight attack on Mocímboa da Praia

Islamic State-linked insurgents appear to have targeted Christian neighbourhoods, and may also have killed two police officers before retreating

Suspected Islamic State-linked insurgents attacked the key town of Mocímboa da Praia in Cabo Delgado province last night, according to multiple local sources who say at least four people were killed. The attack, which began around 11pm and continued into the early hours, caused widespread fear and chaos among residents, many of whom fled the town.
