Islamic State Mozambique have recently mounted a string of attacks in the district of Chiúre, on the southern border of Cabo Delgado province. The attacks only ended as Mozambican troops arrived in the district at the end of last month and as insurgents clashed with the Naparama militia. By then, the insurgents had caused a humanitarian crisis, forcing over 40,000 people in the district to flee their homes in the space of nine days.
