Insurgents return to attack Magaia village in Muidumbe, northern Cabo Delgado

The Local Force again took the brunt of the attack, having lost three of their number in clashes with insurgents in June

At least three Local Force members were injured in an insurgent attack on the village of Filipe Samuel Magaia in the north of Muidumbe district, Cabo Delgado province, close to the border with the district of Mocímboa da Praia. The attack took place on 23 July and involved several heavily armed insurgents who entered the village at around 4 p.m., firing indiscriminately and looting supplies from the local population. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.
