Mozambican navy accused of “massacre” of civilians on Cabo Delgado island

The attack, which has been denied by a spokesman, is the second time in less than a month that the navy has been accused of killing civilians

At least 16 people were killed when boats believed to belong to the Mozambican navy opened fire on civilians on Rolas island, in Cabo Delgado province’s Ibo district, late on Monday 8 September. Most of the victims were local fishermen from Matemo island, who had traveled to the area to fish.
