Good afternoon. Today’s edition of weekly newspaper Canal de Moçambique leads with the front-page headline “The friends of Alberto Chipande”, referring to the fact that Chipande, a grandee of ruling party Frelimo, is said to have had at least two meetings with Christian Malanga, the exiled Congolese politician who was killed trying to carry out a coup d’etat in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at the weekend. What the government in Kinshasa makes of Malanga’s Mozambican connections remains to be seen.
